cranes holding carnelians and the

8.75" x 13.75" x 7.25"
Indiana limestone, 2003
$6,000 (S&H $110)

|
| This
is a dynamic play between the stable adult tiger and its wiggling
cub who is trying to get comfortable. The protective parent
embraces the trusting child.
"I created the tiger's stripes by using an alternating
technique of first, highly polishing the stone to
darken it, and then slightly abrading the negative space around
the stripes to create the contrast."

 watercolor
landscapes
"The primary subject of my landscapes is light."
Lynne describes these watercolor paintings:
"This is a series of 'sketches' for larger paintings derived
from local scenes in the Blue Ridge Mountains where I live and
work. Coming from Southern Africa, where the leaves of the indigenous
trees are compact, dense and leathery compared to those of the
airy deciduous trees of North America, I often compare the trees
here to delicately costumed dancers moving in space." |

 theater
& dance drawings
Lynne Marshall describes her dance drawings: "For much of my
life I have been fascinated by the grace, beauty and strength
of the human body trained for performance and dance. These large
scale drawings in charcoal pencil and pastel capture my experiences
while watching and recording dancers and performers on stage
and in the rehearsal studios. Dynamism and power co-exist in
these drawings with stillness and silence. By contrasting brilliant
light with dramatic, velvety darks and delicate lines with dense
form, we appreciate the grace and strength of the dancers' bodies.

Lynne Marshall: Portraits: The meeting of outer and inner light.
"My intention when painting or drawing portraits is to
capture those unique moments in life when the sitter is most
relaxed, allowing me (the 'visitor' or the viewer) to enjoy
